ALH?

I recently experienced nipple bleeding for an extended length of time. I have had a mass removed from my left breast 1 week ago. The biopsy showed ALH and ADH. I have a strong family history of cancer and have had cancer in my appendix 25yrs ago.My sister died of breast cancer at age 52. my mother had cancer in her kidney and my paternal grandfather had Leukemia. I have hypertension, diabetes and Systemic Lupus Erythmatosis (SLE) what are myoptions at this point and is Tamoxifen a viable option in light of my SLE dignosis. Oh yeah also a hx of a P.E. so what is viable for me?

Yes.....aytipical Lobular Hyperplasia. along with atypical ductal hyperplasia. What about prophylactic mastectomy? Tamoxifen scares me a bit as I am already immuno compromised from the steroids for the lupus and the hx. of a previous blood clot in my lung.

The ALH issue would depend on whether Atypia was found ... The ADH issue is a bit different. Tamoxifen has been proven to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer after ADH diagnosis by nearly 50%. I would advise you to discuss in detail all the options with your Oncologist as well as your Internal Medicine Specialist. The only family history that would be important here is your Sister's breast cancer. Radiation is also sometimes recommended after surgery for ADH.  Regards ....
