Hi,
Fibroglandular density is not uncommon and is not harmful. However this finding, which is a combination of glands and fibrous tissues, describes the breast tissue as lumpy,or dense.
Because you have moderate dense breasts, which can make mammogram readings more difficult, your Doctor/Radiologist wants to make sure that nothing is left to chance. The fact that you are being called back is very common and a diagnostic mammogram and an ultrasound (if necessary) is generally recommended to further define the area of concern. Sometimes the tissue can fold over on itself and cause a "density"or shadow to appear. The diagnostic mammogram will often smooth out the tissue and the "density" will disappear, confirming that all is okay.If the density is still visible, then further investigation will be needed.
Keep in mind that most abnormalities detected on mammograms are benign in nature. The most common ones are cysts and fibroadenomas.
Please let us know how things are proceeding and I hope that you'll have nothing to worry about..
All the best and good luck!.
