appeared new pain in the back

My mom 66y. dx. with stage 2 , grade 2 ductal inVasiVe carcinoma - 23mm -and dcis and lcis in the same breast, treated with mastectomy and now in two weeks she has to do the 3. CMF ( she has congestiVe but compased heart failure NYHa 2 and mitral ValVe prolaps. Well she did an ultrasound of the liVer bfore the operation and a x ray of the chest before operation and the CA15.3- 17 but she did not bone scan and i am worried because after the chemo started she has experied pain in her back not localized but true her hole back and the had to take a NSAR to calm the pain then the pain went away and then after a week and a half it came again and the sometimes it goes away alone and sometimes she has to take something to stop it. After the mastectomy the doctor didn't checked her tumor marker again, i supppose because it was ok before the operation should we ask the GP now maybe ? Maybe a bone scan or aMRI shoudl be done now when this pain in the back has appared recently  ? I am worried sick . Help

If your Mother has osteoporosis then I don't think I would be too aggressive in doing any type of investigation into the back problem. My Mother also had osteo and she would often have a sudden onset of pain that was much more severe than usual. Most times it was due to another compression fracture somewhere along the spinal column. Her Orthopaedic Dr.s always told her "it will improve in about 6 weeks" .... until then it was a do the best you can. You might consider a consult with a Dr. who deals with spinal problems.... a simple X-ray would indicate the problem well enough.  Regards .....

I have talked about with the my mother oncologist last time saw him and i mentioned him seh had some back pain ( seh also has osteoporosis but she says it never hurt like this it was more chronic ) but he didn't wanted to order any exam he just said it could be neuropatic ?!? I think he was more consered about the other 50 patients that were waiting to get their chemo rather then listening to what i am saying that's way i +m asking myself weather i should insisted on some kind of exam to check this generalised back pain that comes and goes away .

I think back pain in this instance could be from most anything. If there were some doubt as to the connection to the cancer I'm sure her Oncologist would be ordering some type of scan to investigate this. With all your Mother's other medical problems I would suggest that she see either her Cardiologist or Internist for a general examination. If you have discussed this with the Oncologist I'm sure he/she would have some advice as to where to look or who to see about this. Many times drugs have side effects that include generalized pain.     Regards .....
