Breast MRI contrast and ovulation

I am scheduled for a Breast MRI (6 months post radiation treatment), the day I am predicted to ovulate.

I found myself pregnant 6 weeks after radiation treatment for breast cancer (mid April) and unfortunately miscarried naturally in May.  My cycle has returned to normal and we would like to start to TTC as soon as possible.  I am 41 years old and this would be our first child.

My question is... Would it be unsafe to become pregnant if I ovulated the day of or the day before the MRI?

Also, how long does it take for the contrast to leave your system?

I doubt that finding anyone with a similar experience will happen. You can certainly call the Radiology Dept. at the Institution where you will be having your test and get an answer there. Make it quite clear how important it is to you to know NOW and not the day of your testing. These kinds of questions should be answered even before the test is ordered but evidently this hasn't happened in your case ..... believe me it SHOULD HAVE BEEN !! Get on the phone and be persistant !! If you can't get an answer then cancel the MRI until you do. If you state that it should bring a response.   Take care and good luck.

Thank you for your response.

I have completed my breast cancer treatments and have been discharged from their care.  I am currently under supervision of my family physician but her expertise is not in any of these areas.  I have however been given clearance and well wishes from her to try to conceive again.

The MRI team is not available to speak to until the day of my test which is why I was seeking some input from here.

I appreciated the complication of the question.  Just hoping for that someone may have had similar experiences.

Thank you again for your response.

I'm going to pass on your questions and advise you to discuss this in detail with your OB/GYN as well as your Oncologist and even the Radiologist if at all possible. This is a complicated area. I personally would put off being so aggressive in trying to become pregnant until the Breast treatment issues are completed. Please ck. with the entire medical team before you take a chance that may once again end in heartbreak.  Regards..
