Cancer Histopathology report

In my mothers Biopsy report says

ER- Positive(9/9) 90% nuclear staining with strong intensity
PR- Weakly Positive(2/9) 5% nuclear staining with weak intensity
Cerb-2 Negative

Impression:
Left modified redical mastectomy:
Infilrating ductal carcinoma grade III with metastasis to regional  lymph nodes.

Please tell me what is the meaning of ER PR and Cerb-B2 and how serious is the case

This discussion is related to c-erb B2 and prognosis.

Hi again,

The use of "Sinlge-Dose Breast Cancer Radiation" (used ONLY at the time of breast conserving BC surgery) is promising, but still largely investigational.

So that you do not feel bad that this advancement in BC cancer treatment was not available in time for use with your mother, let me also point that it is only inidicated for  with people with one tumor and no spread to the lymph nodes, so your mother would not have been a candidate for this type of treatment in any case.

Rest assured that your mother is being given the best treatment for her type, stage, and grade of BC.

Best wishes to you both...

Will the new invented "Single-Dose Breast Cancer Radiation Therapy" be effective for her

As per the news I have read in the URL "http://www.themedguru.com/20100610/newsfeature/single-dose-radiation-treat-breast-cancer-86136362.html"

Hi,

This isn't japdip replying, but I just wanted to let you know that Herceptin will not be recommended, because that is a targeted tx for HER2+ (Cerb-B2+) cancer, and your mother's tumor tested negeative for that.

Since your mother's tumor is Grade 3 (highly aggressive) and has matastasized to the lymph nodes, her cancer would be considered serious.  I'm sure all the treatments mentioned by japdip will be recommended by her tx team.

Best wishes to you and your mother...

The positivity of ER/PR (hormones) means that the cancer relied on these hormones for growth. After surgery there will no doubt be prescribed a Hormone Therapy (Tamoxifen, etc.) for 5 or more years. Cerb-2 is a gene (as is Her2) and since this is negative there would be no need for a specific treatment regarding this result. The seriousness of this individual case will depend upon the treatment prescribed and the response of the cancer to this treatment. In addition to surgery there will I'm sure be Chemotherapy and Radiation plus the above mentioned Hormone Therapy.   Kindest regards ....
