Irregular Hydroechoic mass

Ultra sound indicates 10x10x9mm irregular hydroechoic solid mass at 9:00 in right breast BRAD 4. Scheduled for a core needle biopsy this Fri. 1/9/15. I go every year for a mammagram However I did hear that your chances of breast cancer a higher post menopause. Do you have any idea of the percentage of these irregular hydroechoic
solid's being cancer. My mammagram reads scattered fibroglandular densities found. Thanks

I think you mean HYPOechoic which means that less echos are produced than would normally be expected. I suppose the longer we live our odds might increase to develop any disease, not only Breast Cancer.
I don't like to deal in percentages but I do know that a great number of biopsies do return a negative for malignancy result. This could very well be a Fibroadenoma which is a benign breast tumor and is solid in nature rather than fluid filled like a cyst. The fact that it is noted to be irregular In shape does raise suspicion somewhat but you'll have t wait for the biopsy results for the answer. The lesion is rather small .... less than 0.4 in. at the largest.    Regards .....

Hi,
Scattered fibroglandular tissue is a term to describe the tissue in the breast which is a mixture composed of glandular and fatty tissue.
Having dense breasts, could make mammography more difficult to interpret and that’s why your radiologist wants to make sure that the solid irregular lump, which is always concerning, but not necessarily malignant, be biopsied to obtain a correct diagnosis.
It’s impossible to even guess what this lump may represent, but keep in mind that many lumps or other breast abnormalities with a BIRADS score 4,turn out benign when biopsied and I hope the same for you too.
All the best and lets hope for Benign findings!
