IBC? Or just a rash?

Hi I'm 37 mother to 5 children, while pregnant with my 4th child I had PUPPPS, basically a horrific rash all over my body my OB/GYN induced me 3 weeks early because I couldn't stand it anymore... Fast forward to a few months ago, I'm getting a rash on my right breast only especially around my areola, very reminiscent of my PUPPPS rash very itchy , redness that lessens somewhat but never goes away, cortisone cream not helping. I do get stabbing pains that seem to radiate from the center of my breast and shoot out towards my nipple! I'd go back to my GYN but he's old school and thinks everything is caused by dehydration and recommends more water for everything that ails you!  I don't have PCP so I'm not sure what to do, do I go to the walk in clinic? My GYN ? Any info/advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks Erin

Thank you for your response, I did see Pagets as a possibility as well, I'm just concerned since nothing seems to relieve the itching or pain . I will make an appt ASAP . Thanks again

Hi Erin,
Breast’s skin, including the areola, is not unlike skin anywhere else on the body. This rash could be so many things, such as an allergic reaction, eczema, fungal infection or just dry skin. There are many types of dermatitis (skin inflammation) that can appear anywhere on the skin, including the breasts, nipples and areolas. I doubt that your symptom is related to “Inflammatory Breast cancer”, but it could indicate “Paget Disease of the Nipple” which is a rare type of cancer that starts similar to a skin problem. Since this type of BC can be overlooked by many doctors, I would suggest that you consult a Dermatologist who can perform a punch biopsy of the skin to rule out any serious problem. You could also ask your GYN to refer you to a Breast Specialist .I think that a Mammogram or Ultrasound would be most valuable to find out what is causing the stabbing pain in your breast.
I wish you well and hoping that this is just a skin problem and nothing else to worry about.
Take care..
