Measurements

Hello everyone. Had Mammo, called back, had compression, got called back for ultrasound, results as follows. Hypoechoic mass 4mmx3mmx5mm,irregular edges with mild shadowing. Biopsy scheduled for Fri. I know this might sound kind of silly but  I would like to know how those measurements are taken. Anyone know? Not sure if I should be freaked out or not. I will be  51 this Saturday, not an ideal birthday present huh.LOL

You are more than welcome!
No need to apologize at all.Almost all of us did the same thing, when we started posting in this Community Forum.
Indeed waiting for the biopsy result is very stressing for so many of us...But the best thing to do is to keep very busy.Go out with your friends,do some shopping and pamper yourself a little,go see a movie or visit family and friends. This way the waiting time will seem much shorter.
I wish you good luck and BENIGN findings! :)

Thank you. I know its a waiting game at this point. My mind is just crazy right now. I am fairly new to these boards so please forgive me when I mess up. I didn't know that everything u ask needs to go under the same heading. Anyway, thanks again.

Hi,
I  think that Radiologists by examining the films produced by Mammograms and Ultrasound, can give an approximate measure of a mass.It is not always accurate though until the mass is completely removed.Yours is very small, approximately 1/4 inch.
The important thing that the radiologist looks at, is the shape of the mass and not its size.
An irregular nodule is suspicious, therefore a biopsy is always recommended to make sure that cancer is ruled out..
All I can say is, don't assume the worst because many suspicious masses turn out benign when biopsied.Try to stay positive, get the test done and wait for the results which  I hope will disclose benign findings.
Wishing you all the best and happy birthday !
