Think i may have found a breast lump

I was just casually checking my breasts last night and after about 30 seconds of feeling around I found what I thought was a lump. My husband couldn't find it at first and so I had to spend ages trying to find it again, when I did my husband checked and says there is one there. But...I am not sure how to recognise the breast tissue from a lump. This feels attatched at the back and moves freely under the skin which makes me think it is just tissue. I am only 23 so I know statistically it is probably nothing, have a docs appointment on thursday to check it out. I just want to know the difference. I do not check my breasts as much as I should, but I was convinced last night I found one now I am not so sure.

No problem!  Have you tried calling for an appointment sooner, or to be put on a waiting list for cancellations?  You can also call and appeal for a sooner appointment because you are experiencing increased anxiety related to this.  Sometimes you'll catch the ear of a sympathetic nurse or receptionist.

Hang in there!    Chris

Thank you Chris for the lovely, warm welcome. Just wish I could get an earlier appointment before I go cookoo.

Hi!

The great news is that you are checking your breasts!  That's so important to know what normal is for you should you ever experience abnormal.  It could very well be normal tissue, and that's what your dr. is there for.  With your drs. appointment coming up, you will know for sure!

I'm glad you found us to help put your mind at ease and get some information.  We're always here to help.

Warmly,

Chris

I checked my other breast today. I found that there is a similar bit of breast tissue in exactly the same place as I found my lump (just on the other breast - i suppose I was comparing). It is smaller, this now makes me think the smaller one is normal and my other breast has some enlarged tissue in it. Am I making sense or is this the ramblings of a paranoid nutter? Thank you.
