Not understanding MRI or Mammo reports

I have a history of two benign biopsies and a negative braca 1 and 2.  I have family history of breast cancer on both sides (one in my grandfather on father's side) and also ovarian and prostate cancer on both sides.

I recently had my yearly rounds of tests and the ultrasound came up with the mass that I already knew about on the right breast though it had grown larger (now at 6.7 x 3.3 x 6.6 cm). The mammo showed "CAD indicates two nodular foci with the left breast CC view, one posterior central retroareolar and the other anterior medial, with a CAD-indicated nodular focus retroareolar region of the left breast MLO view." The MRI showed "small area of abnormal enhancement seen in the left breast at the nipple along the dermal edge...The 3D reconstructions do show an area of increased enhancement also in the retroareolar region on the left and along the superficial skin surface...The area of most concern probably represents the biopsy location[right breast]...This has a type II enhancement curve with rapid upstroke and wash-in with plateauing of the washout.  The other lesion at the 6 o'clock position [left breast] also shows a similar enhancement pattern." The impressions said something about Paget's disease.

Please, can anyone tell me what this means in layman's terms?

Dear loacoa, Basically the above is a description of the location of these abnormalities on both the mammogram and the MRI.  It is difficult without seeing the films and entire report and put it into context to give a good explanation.  It is best to have a discussion with your doctor about the above results so they can put the information into a context for you.

A BIRADS score of 6 is normally only given after biopsy tissue has been tested by a pathologist and the tissue found to be malignant.  Unfortunately, it does mean cancer, and further treatment is necessary (surgery, chemo, radiotherapy etc.)
Pagets of the breast is a rare condition, affecting the skin around the nipple.
I have just googled BIRADS scores, and Pagets and there is a lot of good information there if you wish to know more.
Take care and good luck with your treatment.
Liz.

My birad was a Category 6 on the MRI.  I don't know what that means either...
