Phyllodes tumor breast

I have been diagnosed with phyllodes tumor of the right breast.  I have had two surgeries, the last one being 2/2/511. The margins are now clear.  After the incision heals, I am scheduled for radiation treatment.  Is the the proper treatment for this type of tumor?

This discussion is related to Benign Phyllodes Tumor reoccurance.

Even though Phyllodes isn't known to respond well to the standard therapies radiation is often recommended ... it certainly can't hurt. Each situation is different and almost anything is possible when you are dealing with cancer. Best wishes for your upcoming treatment.   Kindest regards ....

My tumor was malignant and large.  The second surgery was to remove mucle tissue. The doctors have recommended radiation treatment.  I should start in about three weeks.

You don't state whether your Phyllodes tumor was benign or malignant. In either case Surgery is always recommended with wide excision which evidently has been done in your situation. Phyllodes tumors don't seem to respond well to either Chemotherapy or Radiation neither of which is usually recommended with Benign Phyllodes. Close follow-up is always advised after surgical removal of these tumors.  Regards ....
