To have a Mastectomy Or Not ?

Hello Dr. Koelsch,

I had high blood pressure 2 yrs ago preventing Mastectomy. Now biopsy shows atypical cells.  Oncologist feels since
radiation course in area it is not breast cancer and surgeons  thought it was not  cancer so no requested Mastectomy.
Do you agree it's radiation causing these abnormal cells or cancer?  Eva L. Hart  San Francisco

I wasn't upset with you.  I just thought that others should perhaps be a little more respectful of you.
Have you thought about accessing a support group in your local community?

Please excuse wrong posts as I am learning how to post here.  Also I had mentioned I  filed a Religious and Age Complaint to EEOC in March 17, 2000.  That was in past but one surely needs a job for health insurance costing thousands
Ofr dollars especially cancer. Eva Hart San Francisco,Ca

I will certainly consider your answer. My question was new not obsessive as it included my blood pressure concern.

In past I filed a Religious and Age Complaint since I quit evil, corrupt jobs as a Christian.
One needs a job for health insurance and in case you get sick.  I have 7 Certificates in Word Processing and Spreadsheets as Lotus 1,2,3 up untilMay 05 with Excel.  Eva L. Hart San Francisco, Ca

I will consider your answer for as I said it is a hard call to make as ti what is in there for sure.  I do not want anymore biopsies either.  However, a more easier needle biopsy maybe one could do.  I'll ask my doctor.

Also want to mention that I filed a Religious and Age Complaint in March 17,2000. I quit evil, corrupt jobs.  One needs a job for health insurance!  I  have 7 Certificates in Word Processing and Spreadsheets as Lotus 1,2,3 in Feb 1995 and up until May 05 with Excel.   Eva L. Hart  San Francisco,Ca

Well,by accident I hit the post button close to a sentence letter I was correcting.  To finish my thought all this salt is in foods to a lot of degrees or units whatever you call salt particles in food.  I tbought you were upset with me and I am glad you want to listen.

Alhough we are not doctors we can share experiences and comfort and help and learn from each other. Do tell me your concerns too.    Eva Hart     May 23,2011

As I said before the doctor has been working with me and has brought my blood pressure down.  I hope it stays this way.  Sadly, I did not realize salt was in so much food as meat in cans, chicken pot pie and recently also I disco ered by surprise hot dogs too. They all have up to 700 and above (whatever you call it) degrees of  lot

I'm sure sure what the answer to the question is.  I think sometimes we need to trust our doctors.  They will have a lot of experience and would request follow-up if they were at all concerned.

Your BP does sound high.  Have you made lifestyle changes, etc to try and help bring it down?  It sounds like your BP may pose a greater risk to you at present than the atypical cells you mention.

I think that it would nice if people didn't become so judgemental and instead took the time to listen.  If the material is being repeated then what aspects are being missed?  Could it be that the individual is anxious?  Instead of rebuffing why don't we show some compassion.

The phone went out on me and let me finish. It is said many factors can cause atypical, abnormal cells and I do not want to maim myself.  Please recognize this is a difficult call for doctors and surgeons and myself. What if your all wrong?  Eva  Hart   May 23,2011.

Well, I think you have missed my question. Firstly, because I did have high blood pressure I could not have a Mastectomy.  I had a Lumpectomy and doctor worked to get it down from as high as 200.  One cannot have surgery with such a high blood pressure!

Secondly, my question is from the results of a Pathologist report which is new to me as atypical cells are and I never mentioned this but as a question which you never answered.  I hope someone does if you do not want to.  Actually being new here (so I do not understand
your obsessing remark),I chose this doctor and got this forum instead.

Thirdly, it is  another possible tumor if so and the uncertainties of cancer and blood pressure
as wha will my blood pressure be 7 years from now and in effect not knowing for sure if it is cancer or not or radiation causing these abnormal cells is up for a debate.  The oncologist makes sense to me too since it's said many factors can, cause

I have no idea to whom you have addressed this post ... we here have all been over and over and over this subject with you. What you are asking is something OTHER than GOOD MEDIAL PRACTICE and I doubt you will ever find any Surgeon who would do unnecessary surgery such as you seek. By the way ... if a mastectomy were necessary, high blood pressure would not have prevented it being done. Blood pressure can easily be controlled in order to facilitate NECESSARY surgery of any type. IF, and that's a very huge IF, you were to succeed in finding someone to do a mastectomy I doubt with all sincerity that you would have an uneventful recovery or even a good one taking into consideration your many other problems. Please let the issue fade into the past and stop obsessing about this surgery.  Kindest regards ...
