breathing complications 15 years after a tram flap procedure

I underwent a tramp flap procedure in 2001, after my discharge i was re admiited because of breathing difficulties.  Many years later i have started to have episodes where i am unable to get a breath in,along with sharp pain under the breast bone.  Each time i have to be admitted to hospital, but no one seems to be abole to give me a diagnosis. Or consultants arent interested in finding a solution.  I do believe that the tramp flap is the cause of many breast cancer patients who have undergone this procedure.  I am hopeful someone out there can let me know i am not the only one with this issue.

Thanks
Aly Parker

On this forum we have had many posts regarding this issue; you might "search" the forum for them, not that it would help your issue but you would then know you are NOT alone. Many times these problems can be due to scar tissue. I'm not sure how you are being treated when you are admitted to the hospital for the breathing problem but I would suggest that you make contact with your Plastic Surgeon; if not the one who did your procedure, then any other Plastic Surgeon that is available.. It may be that they are chalking the problem up to a respiratory issue rather than your previous surgery. I would keep asking until I got a solution or at least a decent opinion as to how to obtain some relief. Best wishes in your search.    Regards ......

Besides all the hospital admissions have you ever been followed up in the office by a Pulmonary Specialist for a full battery of lung function tests? I and I'm sure you as well cannot understand if this is serious enough to be admitted to ICU on several occasions that you haven't been followed closely as an outpatient for the breathing problems. There absolutely MUST be a cause for these symptoms. Breathing difficulties could certainly bring about chest/breast pains to some degree .... I'd even look for a trigger to the respiratory issue such as an asthma/allergy type issue. I'm not sure where you are or what type of Medical care is available in your area; a large University teaching hospital might offer more depth when it comes to investigation into this mysterious condition.  Best wishes in the meantime. Kindest regards ....
