intraductal papilloma

I recently had 11cc of fluid aspirated from a breast cyst. Fluid was pinkish yellow, no malignancy, cell clumps that indicate intraductal papilloma. 7 days later the cyst has refilled. Dr. has referred to a surgeon but didn't indicate what type of surgery her recommended. What is the standard surgery for indraductal papilloma & recovery time. Also, how can fluid from a cyst determine a solid growth like intraductal papilloma?
Thank you.

Thank you for your response.  I have been and still am a little confused because the definitions of inductal papilloma that I have read always mention nipple discharge and I have had no nipple discharge. I see a surgeon on June 5 and I will write down some questions for him since I tend to go blank when nervous. Again, I appreciate the response

Hi there.

Any breast growth be it benign (like papilloma) or malignant (like breast cancer) can shed characteristic cells that can collect in cysts, or sometimes with the fluid that comes out as a nipple discharge.  Examination of the cyst fluid may have revealed these characteristic cells from the papilloma.  Surgery for papillomas is different for breast cancer and may involve less tissues to be removed depending on the size.  I suggest that you discuss the surgery in depth with the surgeon when you meet with him and make sure you understand the risks and side effects.

Good luck with any future operations.  Regards and God bless.
