Thank you for your anwer to my question. I feel a little better about it and now I will hopefully not make myself crazy before Monday when I am scheduled for the biopsy. Again, Thanks.......
Hi,
Most breast cysts contain clear fluid and they are harmless. However there is a concern when the cyst walls tend to be thick and irregular, which can be noted on ultrasound. This lesion is called a complex cyst, usually it's benign in nature ,but has to be tested to rule out cancer.
BI-RADS stands for "Breast Imaging Reporting And Data System".A score 4, such as the one assigned on your Ultrasound report, means that the cyst is suspicious and needs to be biopsied..
BIRADS is a quality control system, used by radiologists after interpreting mammograms, ultrasound and MRIs.
This system allows radiologist to categorize the findings by numbers. The scores go from 0 to 5.The higher the number the more suspicious is the abnormality.
Keep in mind that most lesions category 4, return benign findings when biopsied.
Hoping that your biopsy results states benign findings also.
All the best to you and good luck!
