Last month when I turned 35 I intended on going in for a baseline mammogram. After I found a lump we did a diagnostic mammo with ultrasound. Mammo came back bi rad 4a (scattered fribragrandular tissue, globally asymmetry in upper outer quadrant of right breast. Palpable mass, consider tissue sampling. There are benign microcalcification present bilaterally). I had my stereotactic biopsy which came back with the following results: dense stromal fibrosis; Rare intraductal microcalcifications noted. My surgeon wants to see me every 3 months for a breast exam and 2 mammos 6 months apart. Based on his follow up I believe he's keeping a close watch on me but but I can't seem to find anything on the internet about "Rare intraductal microcalcifications"- what does this mean? Does Rare mean it doesn't happen often or is rare descriptive of very few being present? Any advice is appreciated.
