Microcalcifications - Many, Many!

Hi I've been reading up on calcs and know what they are. The Dr. said that I have many small cysts with microcalcs near them.  She also said that I have many microcalcs spread throughout my breasts.  She said that I will have a biopsy on one of the larger clusters. My question is is it normal to have microcalcs near cysts? Do the cysts create the microcalc? And since I will have a biopsy on one of the clusters and it comes back benign does that mean all of the clusters of the microcalcs are benign? Or should they be suspicious?

My aunt had bc on my dad's side.  On my mother's side we don't have a history since she was adopted.

Thank you in advance!

Dear Rina,

I am so sorry for the results.  I cannot answer your question since I am new here.  You might want to start a new post.  I think the person who answers the posts is japdip.

You'll be in my prayers.

Sincerely,

I went for Biopsy and they found very small amount of calcification in my left breast and toady I got the result , that it is cancerous.  Neither of father side or mother side any one had BC.  Dr told me that I have to go to breast surgeon for next step to remove all the affected tissues. Do you know how what is the process, how long is the recovery. Thanks in advance.

Microcalcifications scattered throughout the breast are a frequent occurance. They do raise susupicion when they are found in clusters or grouped in certain patterns. I don't think there is much of a connection between cysts and calcifications. Even groups or clusters of calcifications often prove to be benign on biopsy and that would not mean that every cluster would also be the same. Each finding should be treated individually.  Regards ....
