another question

I have posted this info in past.....I have fibroids had mamogram in june 09. They saw something so did ultrasound...saw nothing over where I had concrning lump. I was told have fibroids. The lump ....or fibroid I was originally concerned with seems larger. Called Dr. today....have not heard back yet. Today there is also a tingling sensation in the area of the lump. Has anyone had that sensation in the area of a fibroid?

I don't know that it would be a factor but by all means mention it to the Specialist. You might also write down everything that concerns you and take the list with you .... we have a tendency to forget some things and leave an appointment with questions we wish we had ask. Seeing a Specialist is always a good thing; you will be able to get the most information possible.  Take care ..

I have appointment on the 15th with breast specialist. It is a consult. My Bi-rads were 3. I guess I am wondering if they are sending me to specialist because I pushed for MRI ...or just to have more info? I feel like I am being a little paranoid!
I have noticed something during this process...or I guess I have just started paying more attention to my body. When breast feeding my 2 babies ( 3 & 8) I was hardly ever able to get anything out of left breast ...this is side where lumps are. I also do not have sensitivity in left one like I do in right. Is this normal or something I should mention to specialist?

It is sometimes a long process and we would like very much to get it all over with as fast as possible. You'll have to do the best you can at tolerating this "waiting game"; we've all been there and some how we seem to survive it. Patience is a big order but you'll be OK .... Keep in touch when you learn more and in the meantime "hang in there".    All the best ......

I'm pretty sure that something will show up on film .... if nothing is "seen" then there could be another test ordered that is better at detecting when dense breasts are a factor; Breast MRI. If the masses are large enough an open biopsy could be done or possibly one of the less invasive types. This is usually at the recommendation of the Radiologist according to what he "sees" on the film. IF the characteristics are such that he can determine either cyst or Fibroadenoma then a biopsy probably wouldn't be advised.  Regards ....

thank you!
I feel pretty confident fibroids. I am just concerned about the one in left breast that has grown . I am also concerned because I am 38 & breast still dense...will they be able to see what they need to in a Mamo & ultra.  If they do turn up negative what factors need to be there for Dr. to order a biopsy?

Don't get yourself too over-anxious now .... when you get your results if you have any questions please feel free to let us know .... either add a comment to this thread or contact me by Private Message if you wish. You know it would be very rare to have something terribly serious involving both breasts and especially when there were multiple masses in each.  Regards ...

Fibroadenomas (benign breast tumors) can certainly cause any measure of discomfort. They are known to grow and sometimes quite rapidly. The tumor may be coming in contact with a nerve and that may be the reason for the tingling feeling in that area. They are usually just left alone but can be removed if they are causing considerable pain or discomfort OR most times they are removed in women over the age of 40. You don't state your age but Mammograms are recommended yearly.  Regards ....
