Metastasis Adenocarcinoma of Peritoneum (3rd Stage).

My brother is suffering from metasis adenocarcinoma of peritoneum. He is 56 years old.He had a history of diabtees and blood pressure problem. So far he has undergone 5 sessions of chemo, but still he his loosing 3 litres of asitic fluid every 4-5 days, earlier he was loosing around 4 litres. He started suffering from 5th August. My concern is how this fluid formation inside abdominal cavity can be stopped or rather controlled. Can you suggest some  other teatment apart from Chemo which will be helpful in controlling the disease. The doctors are not able to find out the primary(i.e.the origin).I can also send his reports for further analysis.

Hi there!

Unfortunately here is little that can be done about the ascitic fluid formation except regular drainage. At this stage the main aim should be trying to locate a primary and if the lesion is surgically respectable it may be removed. Aside this, chemotherapy and/ or occasionally radiotherapy are the mainstay of treatment. I would suggest discussing the management pan in detail with his treating doctor.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
