Endometrial Cancer?

I know I shouldn't worry but I've ignored symptoms for a year that points to Endometrial Cancer and it's a common cancer that can be caught early and treated.  Here's where I'm beating myself with worry, I haven't had a GYN exam since 2007 and I've been going to the same dr since 1998 so he knows me and my symptoms very well.

I have the classic symptoms of it; but it's probably due to my Adenomyosis - Abnormal vaginal bleeding, spotting, or discharge; Pain during sex; Pain in the pelvic area and my endometrial stripe was 8mm last they checked. "The most common symptom of uterine cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding. It may start as a watery, blood-streaked flow that gradually contains more blood."

I've had Endo all my adult life and dx with Adenomyosis, uterine fibroids & tons of polyps removed in March 2005.

It seems my symptoms have my dr concerned and he thinks I have a high possibility of Endometrial cancer, after doing a checkup & exam.

My mother had ovarian cancer after she developed breast cancer at 38; but I had a BRACA test and it said I had 0% chance for both breast & ovarian cancer thankfully.

Also, when I was in my early 20's (mid 40's now) I had cells removed after a pap test came back abnormal and the gyn burned an area of tissue after doing a biopsy (cone biopsy? I think).  I can't remember what it was called though and they no longer have the records at that office.

I'm sure I'm just worried for no reason; I have so many other health issues that I'm dealing with that this just piled on made me stress completely.

I go march 4th and will have her check them again; have had anemia problems since 2000 and treated off/on for it with meds HGB 10.7-13.0; my RBC  3.64 - 4.62 since 2002

I think the bleeding is also but it's not the usual kind I've had before; Im sure the dr will want to try and find out more - and why my Endo/adenomyosis is worsening so much

Sorry, I just read your initial post; you did mention the vaginal bleeding.  Well, I am 100% sure that is coming from your uterus.  Do have your primary dr. check those labs I mentioned.

Too bad you didn't get it out in 2005; your uterus.

What bleeding?  Is it vaginal? Make sure your primary physician checks your red count and iron serum levels.  I am not sure if you have had problems with anemia in the past.

Well, get the rest of the tests results and go from there.

Keep me posted.

No news = good news; pap test still isn't back and the Dr doing the sono said nothing looks "suspicious" just worsening Endometriosis & Adenomyosis - I need a hysterectomy but no way am I having one unless I have cancer - they don't know what the leaking & bleeding is from so I have to go see my primary now and try to find the source; I have to wait until Monday to talk to my regular Gyn he's not in the office on Friday's even though they set up my appt with him lol

Thank you so much for listening and helping this week; it's been almost unbearable and stressful.

I woke up this morning after finally a good night's sleep and am pretty positive everything will be fine and whatever happens I can handle.  I'm going to talk to my primary about an SSRI to help me cope with my stress levels.

whatever happens today happens and I've made some more friends in the mean time and a larger support community =)

You are not being whiney.  It is pefectly normal to feel the way you do until you get some definite answers about what is going on.

Hang in there.  Hopefully all will work out for you dear. :)

I have a sono Friday Morning, sorry to sound so whiney!  I know I shouldn't worry; I tell people this all the time and try to be the one who never panicks or has anxiety over health issues....

I've had this nagging feeling for a year I have cancer; then I come to my senses and talk myself out of it as just being inactive due to my heart problems.  Then my changing symptoms and the deep bone pain I think what made me question if I had it; I can't remember when that started but within the past 5 months or so (i'll have to find my post on it).

My mom's side of the family breast/ovarian cancer is very high, my dad had cancer also - Lymphoma and died last summer from it and it scares the heck out of me to know I've had some pre-cancerous stuff going on.

After Friday i'll be fine; it's the waiting and not knowing that's making me so upset and I can't do anything about it; I can't drive so I can't go anywhere and I'm feeling a bit "caged".

I do feel better this morning I talked to my husband; which I haven't yet other than telling him what the dr said and we're going to go off for a few days in March, which will help.

Keep in mind abnormal doesn't necessarily mean cancer.

When is the US?  (ultrasound)

just a call from the gyn's office - he set up an appt to see me after my sono now; which he told me he would only do if the test results were abnormal but the nurse wouldn't tell me anything other than he asked to see me

Yes, indeed, you have alot going on.  Definitely must carefully weigh the risk of surgery.

Keep us posted on your outcome.

Oh where do I begin =) how much time do you have? hehehe My body's a train wreck of a mess...

I have malignant arrhythmia's called Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia where I had to have a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted - no known cause yet (new cardiologist is looking into a diagnosis); Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy, Enlarged heart (cardiomegaly found on CTA) Diastolic Dysfunction; Concentric LVH.  Cardiac catherization showed 0% plaque, no clots or kinks; my problems seem to be primarily in the electrical system.

I was treated in 1998 for Hypothyroidism by my gyn; the same one I have now - high TSH levels but other doctors say "normal" even with symptoms and 4.0 - 7.04 TSH lvls, my primary took me off the meds said I didn't need them.

Recurring Syncope (fainting) since age 9 - dx Neurocardiogenic Syncope & Orthostatic Intolerance; Autonomic Dysfunction.

Peripheral Neuropathy confirmed by my Neurologist; she thinks a side effect of my RF ablation on 8/26/2009 where my heart stopped 3 times during surgery.

Dx & treated with Inderal in my early 20's for Complex Cluster Migraines

Nausea, intermittent vomiting and diarrhea no pattern; Left flank pain; frequent urination  since 2004 - had quite alot of testing done; these were all attributed to Endo/Adenomyosis via Laproscopy March 2005.

Enlarged Liver; diffusely echogenic - 2004 tests; total cholesterol was 176 in 2004; 167 in March 2010, and I only drink alcohol once yearly - 1 drink for my anniversary.

Non stop nausea since surgery Aug 2009 - dr told me to take Zantac; which helps a bit - sort of IBS symptoms (no ibs though).  Upper middle abdominal pain - 5 or 6 times; stabbing pains that almost knocks me out... usually lasting only a few minutes - 1 of those times it lasted an hour.

Spine problems/pain due to temporarily being paralyzed at age 15 and an auto accident in March 1999.   Changes of Osteitis pubis with some sclerosis identified in both side of pubic symphsis, then a follow up a month later showed Sclerotic changes seen on both sides of the symphysis pubis, which has the appearance of post partum symphyseal changes (youngest child was 2 1/2).  Followup CTA on 7/26/2009 shows Degenerative changes in the thoracic spine and vascular crowding.

In Jan 2011 I got new health insurance and new doctors, my new primary ordered a full run of tests & xrays; I had (55) xrays done last Friday; 2 1/2 hours of them; hoping to find exactly what's wrong with my spine =)  and I go for new blood tests on March 4th; she's a great dr and is really trying to figure out what's wrong with me.

ack! sorry to ramble so much - train wrecked bodies are hard to describe =)

If I may ask, what sort of heart condition do you have?  Other medical conditions?

Keep me posted.

Hang in there.

Yes I really need the uterus removed, I'm just really afraid if it's not cancer to have any type of surgery.

I hope it's not cancer too and he's just being overly cautious, but I can't help that nagging feeling that I know he's right and I've ignored changing symptoms for a year suspecting something else was wrong.

I'll definitely update after my appt's either way...

Yes, definitely talk with your Cardiologist.  You need to get rid of your uterus and maintain your ovaries; my opinion.  If this is cancer or not, I am sure you will have to have a hysterectomy so the heart issue will need to be addressed really soon.

I hope this is not cancer.

All the best.  :)

Thanks for the reply.  The problem my dr sees is my symptoms have changed in the past year from my "normal" problems.

I was set for a hysterectomy back in 2005 when I had the other stuff done, but my insurance said no since there was no cancer found during the Laproscopy when I was 37, so the dr just removed the fibroids, endo he could and hundreds of polyps and sent some off for testing.

now he won't do a hysterectomy or any other surgery in fear my heart will stop again due to my heart problems; so the only thing he can do is treat what's going on medically, but I'm going to talk to my cardiologist about this when I see him - it's good thing this came up.

I am not so sure this is cancer in your case.  It could be the Endo., more fibroids, the Adeno., so.....get the testing done and go from there.  You have alot of pre-existing problems, so it could just be an exacerbation.

Good the physician is ruling out cancer.

Hang in there.

BTW:  Why no hysterectomy recommended in the past?

I'm waiting on testing and driving myself crazy until then...if it is cancer, I can handle it - it will be a long hard road, but I'll get through it like I have everything else but waiting and not knowing is what I can't handle.
