My husband found a mass in his groin

My husband (34 years old) felt a lump (about the size of 1/2 a banana) on the left side of his groin. He discovered it 2 months ago and finally went to the doctor a week and half ago. The doctor didn't know what it is. Since then he has had an ultra sound and blood work and a CTscan today. The ultra sound showed a 'mass'. I am very scared and want to know more. My husband is very healthy and hardly gets sick, how could have this occured? Has anyone ever heard of a mass in this location and of this size?
Please help,
Amy

The ultra sound was taken near his inguinal pelvic area.(right in the crease of his pelvis and leg) The doctor wanted to rule out hernia. He told us that it was not a hernia but some kind of mass. He was very concerned and that is why we had the Scan a few days later. The doctor did exam the testicles at the 1st exam and did not see any problems. He never mentioned testicular cancer. But the word cancer came up after the ultrasound. I thank you both for getting back to me so soon. I hope to hear from the doctor soon and know more.
Thank you,
Amy

Was the ultrasound actually taken of the testicles or by groin do you mean lower abdominal  area?   I was also wondering what your husbands doctor had to say about the ultrasound, If it was a mass in the testicles and it appeared as solid it most likely is testicular cancer.  Hopeshell is right TC is highly curable depending on stage ,cell type etc. but you want to MAKE SURE to see a doctor who is knowlegable in this type of cancer.  My boyfriend is a two year survivor I can recommend an excellent site that will ease your fears www.tccancer.com. Try not to worry, it may be nothing but say on top of it until you have an answer.

Could likely be testicular cancer.  Don't lose hope... it is highly treatable if found early.  Here is a link to board that may provide more insight:

It is just a general cancer forum but there may be other with his symptoms.  Also, perhaps a hernia is causing his pain.  Your best bet is to follow up with doctor ASAP.  You can do searches on testicular cancer to see if that sounds like your situation.  Best wishes.
