Does anyone get the Prolia shot for bone density loss due to chemo?  If so what is your experience? I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago, had partial mastectomy last May, on oral chemo with calcium and Vit D supplements.  I already had osteoarthritis and am at the age for bone density loss.  Oncologist recommended Prolia shot to combat bone density loss but insurance has denied due to not medically necessary.  Also denied bone scan to check loss after treatment start and MRI to monitor pre cancer nodes remaining. Before I pay out of pocket I want to make sure it is going to work and not make me more ill.  I am in my mid fifties, have two children in college so have to work and I want to maintain a quality of life, not sit in my recliner because I am scared of broken bones.
