Throat Cancer?

Hello I have been having some Throat Tightness, Its a feeling like a choking sensation, it doesn't bother me all of the time just every now and then. I am only 16 years old. Sometimes I have throat pain. I have had this a lot of my life, it comes and goes, sometimes it will stay away as long as a year or so, but somehow it manages to come back. Do you think that this could be some type of cancer of the throat? I did have a lot of sore throats when I was younger. But I don't seem to have as many of them now, but I do have the tightness problem. I also have had some ear pain with this round of the tightness, I have never noticed ear pain before when I was having the tight feeling in my throat. I think the last time that I had the tight feeling in my throat besides right now, was sometime in 2007. So it comes and goes, and it stays away for a long time when it leaves. I have been to the doctor recently for a check up, I did not tell him about this then because I was not having the feeling then, however he did a complete check up on me for some other problems (not related to this) I was having at the time. He did blood work, all kinds of lab work, and just a complete check up. All test came back normal, and they said that everything looked perfect, and that I was a healthy boy. So what do you think about the problem that I am having now, do you think that it is anything that I should be concerned about, or see a doctor about?

If this is following a change in your voice only you notice and even after vomiting, it is possible you may have hypopotassemia (sp?). I had the same symptoms and was hospitalized for it so, yea, call your dr just in case.

I WOULD CHECK MY THYROID.  THYROID ISSUES CAN CAUSE TROUBLE SWALLOWING, EVEN IF IT IS NOT OFTEN- AND A SENSATION OF HAVING SOMETHING IN YOUR THROAT,  THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT MOST OF THE TIME THYROID ISSUES GO UNNOTICED BECAUSE BLOOD WORK ALWAYS COMES BACK NORMAL. SPEAK TO YOUR PARENTS, LET THEM KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. IF IT WERE ME I WOULD REQUEST AN MRI FOCUSING ON THAT AREA.  LET YOUR DOCTOR KNOW THAT YOU HAVE THAT SENSATION IN YOUR THROAT THAT HAS BEEN BOTHERING YOU FOR SO LONG. WHEN SOMETHING SHOWS UP THAT WE KNOW IS NOT SUPPOSE TO BE THERE, WE SHOULD NEVER SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN THE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK
