swollen nodes/x ray

Hello, how well can an X-Ray display what is going on in the body?  I presume it only shows fractures and such, but I am wonderign if there is any way it can show growths?  Thanks!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation and a computer or special film is used to record the images that are created.
Structures that are dense, for example bone, and metal and contrast media will appear white. Structures containing air will be black. while muscle, fat, and fluid will appear as shades of gray. Anatomical growths may be visualized, depending on their character and nature as compared to the normal x-ray of the same part. However, more recent imaging techniques such as CT scan or MRI may show  growths better. Take care and best regards.
