After having teeth removed

Two days after my cat had teeth removed he became partley blind and he just keeps walking and walking. Had him back to the vet and he may have had a stroke. He does eat his food but continues to keep
Walking all the time. I feel that it would be best to put him down. We had him for 12yrs. And it would not be fair to keep him in his state. I feel it is the right thing to do. He is the last of three cats we had and two were put down.

Hi Amber,

I am Soooo with ZQ and Eve!
Please give him some time. Anesthesia on a 12 year old cat can cause severe side effects that take some time resolving themselves .

I am not quit sure what it is about your kit that makes you feel he needs to be put to sleep. Partial  Blindness is nothing. I have seen cats totally blind and they do just fine. If the pacing is getting to you....is it bad for your cat? I don't think so, and he could get some meds to calm him down and sleep.
Sure he could have had a minor stroke. I know lots of people who have minor strokes and they are not "put to sleep".

Some TLC. A little brushing, heating pad under his bed for warmth, and keeping an eye on him seem to be in order for now. If he is eating he has every intention of staying around. Please give him some time!!!!

Keep us posted on his Improvement, K?

Best wishes go out to you both

Hello Amberjad,

I agree with Zodiacqueen's comments. It is a good sign that he is eating.
What your cat is experiencing sounds like side effects from having his
teeth pulled.  Twelve years is not that old for a cat. Please have patience.
Your kitty was under anesthetic when he was having his teeth removed
and I've heard this takes awhile to get out of the cat's system. Do not
put your kitty to sleep. There is a very good chance that he will recover,
but it does take time. I wish you and your kitty well.  Eve

I think you should give your cat a few days at least before putting him down.  I've heard of cats coming around after these effects after a week.

Please, don't put him down yet.  Be patient and give him some time.  It is a good sign that he is eating!!
