Anyone else getting this?

I have two cats, older one is patch. Younger is Diezzel (actally Diezzle is my sisters cat but what ev) well the thing is path never bothered my. I never got runny noses from him or hives. Then deizzle makes me sneeze and I get hives were ever I had contact with him. I'm just wondering if anyone is allergic to one cat but not another.

It makes me sad that I push him away. I react very bad and the hives are painful, but I take care of that.

Haha! Thanks, I'll try that. I can guarantee I'll have scratches all over my arms at the end and I'll be soked myself. I gave patch a bath once when we first got him and after that never gave a cat bath again. Well deizzle kinda likes water so if I do it slow he might actally enjoy it. Idk, let's see.

thanks for that info carol, sounds like it could be a help to libby...there are also some allergenic shampoos avail for cats at the good pet stores..they are supposed to help with the dander, I've never used them but it would be worth a try.
be sure to use a gentle shampoo and rinse thoroughly after..it also helps to have one of those no slip mats in the sink(or tub) so kitty has a firm surface under his feet, that helps to eliminate SOME of the panic....good luck, let us know how it works for you.♥

As a child I was allergic to cats.  I outgrew that, for the most part, but  there are still some cats that can still provoke a reaction from me.  There is only one solution that works for me if I am to live with a cat that I react to: it must have a bath.  Bathing removes the offensive dander.  As the dander builds up slowly, I become accustomed to it and usually never have a problem being around the cat again.  The cat will not be at all happy with this solution, but it works.

Patch has longer and softer hair. Drizzle has more wire-y hair so ya.

hi Libbie and welcome to our cat forum. seems really strange that one would affect you and not the other...does one have longer hair?
Sorry I have no other ideas, I've never run across this problem before. just that cats with longer hair may contain more dander????
not pleasant to have to live with thats for sure....do the symptoms disappear when you use benadryl?
