Hi all, I've been absent for a while, and I apologize. I just haven't had enough energy for much computer time, and I miss all I learn, the stories you share, and empathizing with everyone here.
I've been feeling better, and wanted to come and say hello. Shortly after started as a volunteer at CAT, I promised a story called "How not to clean a room full of cats", and I've finally gotten around to writing it. You can find it as my latest journal entry.
I baked four batches of cookies to share for Thanksgiving, something I used to do every year around Christmas, and loved it. I shared them with family, CAT volunteers and staff, at coffee after my yoga group, on plates for some of my neighbors, and a bunch for my roommate to take to her staff. I ate, er, tasted quite a few myself, too.
So, I'm reading my e-mail newsletter from CAT, and they were asking for people who like to bake to bring in cookies to have to give to people who come to the shelter looking to adopt cats or kittens. Oh joy! I e-mailed the contact person and will take my first batch in with me when I go in to my shift on Friday. I love making treats that people enjoy.
First I was thinking of peanut butter cookies with mini chocolate chips in them. Then I was thinking of cut out cookies in the shape of a cat, maybe sugar cookies or ginger. They need cookies that are easy to eat out of hand. I have three cookie cookbooks to give me ideas, so CAT may be getting more cookies than they need out of me!
Any ideas? What are your favorites and what would be good cookies to give to prospective adopters?
