Little Lost Kitten

We found a kitten last week about 3 months old..She wasn't moving much.. and near emaciated.  We brought her in, carried her to water, food and litter.. but for the first 3 days she slept like almost non- stop.

4th day she started to play a bit,  but we noticed some things that aren't quite right.  She sticks her tongue out all that time.. when playing or purring.  She isn't bright but  very lovable.. she just loves cuddling. She also has a strange tail.  While it's the length of a regular kittens  it's got a "T"  at the end of the tail.   She also scratches elsewhere.. (beside the cat box)  then will go into it and go  but isn't keen on covering up her excretions.  My other kitten is a couple of months older.. and  just wants to kill her..  I am wondering if my other cat is sensing like I am something isn't quite right..

We thought it may be a chromosome disorder because of the "T"  at the end of her tail..  which may have also triggered  something similar to Downs Syndrome .  Is there a name for this ??

Wishing you all the best with your new kitten!
One of my girls have a "like broken tail" (but its not like a T, just bent), she was born this way and I also think its genetical cos her probable father had the same.Except for this detail, all the rest seens to be normal and she is healthy.
All I learned til now its that siameses are more probable to have this.
Post more after the vet visit, we are curious about...

I believe some of the Manx's  have this when they have a part of a tail..  That is the only  breed  I've heard about it in..  Luna is the first kitten..  kinda  dominate.. hoping getting her fixed will  take some of that away..  Luna is kinda  being a bully.  So  the water  bottle is getting a work out...but only when Yuki  is being extremely bullied.. and crying because I believe they have to work it out in order to live together.   The new one my son..  (he's the one that brought her in..)  name  Yuki.  keeps  coming back for more.. and at times I have a roaring kitty... "I am the boss "  power struggle  going on in my kitchen.  Sometimes it sounds like an outside cat fight..I still think Luna knows something is wrong with this little  Yuki..  and that is why she is being so aggressive.  Luna has been around dogs since birth.. and while she tries  to boss my dog around..  it doesn't get very far  as he  just  pins her down and won't let her  scratch him.  (he plays her with.. and any other animal I've brought in.  except for my dove... because he's scared of her..)  Most of the animals I have are rescues..  that  I've taken in.  And Yes  they all learn to get along.. Humans could stand to learn a lesson from them.

On an upside  I have seen them now and then sleep near each other.. so there is hope.. Luna is about 5 months old..  Yuki is about 3 months.. I do separate them in different rooms.. if I go out.. and at night time, so no one get hurt.  Yuki is  starting to put on weight there is a bit of a difference even though we've only had her about week, and she's getting more energy.

Thank you Linda and Teddybears.. for the kindness of your rely.

One thing I will add is that some cats have tails shaped like that.  I have seen it a few times in my life.

Just like to say a big "Thank You" for taking care of those that are less equipped to take care of themselves. You are so right...they need you more.  PS. The only tail deformity that I've seen are the kinks at the end of some Siamese tails.  I think your older kitty will adjust since he is not that much older ;)

Thank you Opus for the warm welcome.  This kitty has a wonderful temperament and will be going to the vet's next week.  I think there may be a problem with genetics. She seems to like to play.. and isn't out of air as a result.  Just some oddities..  but that is ok..  I always manage to get the critters..  that are a little different.. lol...  Bless them anyways.. just means they need me a little more..

hi JD and welcom to our cat forum.....congratulations on rescuing this little kitty that obviously needed a good home and loving care.
Kitty may have injured her tail perhaps? Otherwise I'm sorry I have NO explanation for this odd deformity.
Has she had a good Vet exam since you found her?...
as far as the protruding tongue there is one condition that another member posted about recently...I will try and find her post and add it on.
this is the website that explains this condition and mentions protruding tongue as a symptom.

if I find the other post thread I'll add it on.
keep us posted
