Cat with Lung Tumor

My 12 year old cat (very overweight) showed a lung tumor on x-rays and a small amount of fluid in his other lung.  No testing was done to determine if the tumor is cancerous.  He does get short of breath when having a bowel movement - he strains/sgrunts. My vet said he has a small pelvis, and given he is a large cat, he strains when pushing - there is no sign of a blockage, but it seems as though the pushing makes him breath heavier perhaps due to the lung condition.   I was told that he could not be put on prednisone for the tumor as it would increase the lung fluid, and I could not put him on Lazsix as it would encourge the tumor.  I have an appt scheduled in one week with a holistic vet.  Would it be wise to have the fluid in the lung drained (as I understand it was not a lot of fluid at the time of the x-ray) prior to the holistic vet appt. to alleviate this issue or would that perhaps stress him and make it worse?    My vet said we could try it, but it was not something she recommended at the time she examined him.  Right now, he is eating/drinking, doing his normal routine, but just a bit slower and his breathing is a little heavier at times- he ocassionally coughs as if he has a hair ball that he cannot get out,  but with a more flemmy sound.  I also just started him on ES Clear, an herbal tincture for cancer/immunity, which I purchased from Pet Wellbeing.     Any recommendation on what to do between now and the visit with the holostic vet would be appreciated.  Thank you.

hi Sabrina, I too am so sorry to read about your poor kitty. We here are sending you all our love and support and hope you keep in contact with us to keep us updated...unfortunately we can't offer many suggestions as we are only kitty owners ourselves and don't have alot of experience with the particular problems your kitty is facing. I will post a link to Medhelps Vet and perhaps he can answer these questions for you.
like the previous poster said its important to keep his bowel movements soft and easy to pass especially while he is struggling with his shortness of breath....
(((hugs))) to you both.♥

Hi, sorry to hear that you and your kitty are going through so much right now.  But, I'm glad to hear that you're visiting a holistic vet....I've heard they can work wonders!!

I would like to ask your vet about DSS, which is a stool softener that is safe for cats.  I've had cats put on this for constipation issues and it makes it so much easier for them to go w/out the straining.

Best wishes!
