wow,$44 LUCKY you! I was told after my cat was seen $99 in FULL right now! I didnt have it,full right now! They demanded me to remove my 12 yr old cats amoxicillan out of my purse and hand it over and treated me as if i was some sort of threat/bad person,it was terrible! My old cat is 12 and has a respitory infection, without it hes gonna die since the vet since it was crucial i have it yet they took it from me! Im sitting here with no Amoxicillan,no funds until the 1st and 6th of the month and my cat can die without it,the ONLY other alternative i have is my kids pediatric Liquid low dose Amoxicillan in the fridge! I dont know what to even do! Where i am,nobody helps or anything, hes been suffering, yet i couldnt get him seen if i have no money i found out after the fact and if he dies, still stuck with him but a deceased baby, nobody will touch him w/o funds and i hope to give him a privet witnessed cremation when i get my check but thats still near 2 weeks away, heaven forbid he passes right now. This is just such a mess,i have funds, but our other bills and debts got paid,my kids of course get their needs met but the problem is,my cat is my kid too, just ran out of money temporarily :P Any suggestions? I am however so jealous about your $44 balance lol thats a great deal!
good for you for getting him looked at an treated.....now just for the healing, our dear animals who depend on us so much are well worth the few dollars they cost us to keep them healthy:)
just watch with the amox. it MAY cause some lack of appetite or loose stools....if it gets real bad let the Vet know and they may need to change it...but whatever you do don't stop it before the end of the 7-10days...the infection needs that amount to kill whatever is causing the infection..
best of luck, let us kknow how popcorn is doing ok..
Update if anyone reads.. Took him to the vet this morning. The vet said he thinks that he got an cyct that reputured. And the healing of it made it itch. Said to leave it open and keep Popcorn inside. And vet cut his nails. Also gave me some amoxicillin for him. I was worried the check up alone would be $100. But when I asked over the phone how much just the check up was he said $42. With the check up and the amoxicillin it came to $44.22...
Hoping he gets better soon!
Thanks.. After looking things up last night he does need to go in.. :(
Hello there,
Your cat needs to be seen by a vet asap. Do not give your cat human
amoxicillin even in a small dose. Your cat needs the expertise of a
vet. It sounds from your description, that your cat's wound is infected.
I agree with opus88. Your cat needs an antibiotic but only one for
animals and only one that your vet prescribes for you. A wound is a
wound. As opus88 suggests, there are many animal clinics that allow
you to pay this bill for the exam over 2-3 installments. You say because
you're pregnant, you can't take your kitty to a vet. Perhaps a friend
of yours could help you. Maybe drive you to the vet with the kitty.
This is not a time for self diagnosis and home made bandages.
Your kitty needs the care and medicine only a vet can provide.
You also don't want to cause a danger of blood poisoning. I don't know
if this could be a possible issue. Don't take the chance. Wounds are
very serious. I'm sure you love your kitty. Get the proper medical
attention for your kitty and the medicine she needs. Good luck. Eve

yes danni if its bubbling it does mean its infected, please DO NOT give him a human amoxicillin without at least first talking to a Vet...I know how scarce money can be...but this does need to be fixed. what kitty needs is an antibiotic but I don't know the type or the strength....remember how much less a cat weights than a person....its a much much smaller dose than you or I would take..
I'm in Canada..and a typical Vet exam would cost abt $40-50 plus the antibiotic...if you get a prescription and get it filled at a human pharmacy it will cost much less than if your Vet fills it...usual cost $15-20.
Many clinic's will allow you to pay this bill for the exam over 2-3 installments if you are really short.
Please find a way to get this kitty some help....btw..good luck with new baby:))
Also do I keep it covered where he can't scratch at it or leave it open for a while each day to dry and maybe get scab on it??
When he scratches with bandage and sock on or when it's open he'll scratch and go to town on it.. 5-10 minutes at time!
