Captain America the cat (CATC)
So, he has stole our hearts! What a personality the little guy has!! Problem??? He WON'T stay inside the house!!! He uses a litter box OUTSIDE!! We kinda just set him up with a doghouse (cathouse??) but.. Je doesn't use it either! He hates being inside anywhere... Kinda makes me sad.

Jade, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. She dearly loves being inside with us. I'm sorry, I don't remember, but you took CATC in as a stray?? It might be he is simply used to being outside and on his own. Btw, I'm sorry, I don't recall, but if you have other animals in the house, he may feel intimidated.
I would maybe encourage indoor playtime, an indoor scratching post (if you look through my pics, we have a combo one made of carpet and...and...oh, there's a name for the rope...SISAL...that Jade loves!). Cats love a simple paper bag and string, too. And Cat Nip! Try making playtime an evening event where kitty looks forward to playing...which will in turn possibly keep her inside more. Get the older kids involved. Careful with the younger ones though, as they don't always understand when a kitty is getting to the end of it's patience, and we don't want any scratching or biting involved. I believe it was mentioned to NEVER use your hand as a play thing.
Also, if you have a coyote problem like we do, we had to start bringing Jade in at night last July for her own safety whether she wanted to or not. Not so easy at first, but she got used to it. Whether coyotes or not, you may want to get CATC used to being inside, and, of course, bring his litter box inside, too.
