Good morning All;
We've reached a new milestone with Miss Teia. Today is when we celebrate her probable birthday.
For those reading the story for the first time, she was rescued by her previous people at about 6 months of age (per their vet) in the middle of June 1999. She was a feral. A neighbor kid had caught her and dislocated both of her shoulders. G and his wife got her fully vetted, including spaying, and then (basically) just gave her the use of a spare room in their house. She was provided food, water, shelter, safety and a clean litter box, but no socialization. They had small children and another cat that didn't much like Teia.
When we adopted her in June 2009, as they were about to lose their house (and marriage), Miss Teia was still semi-feral.
I was unwilling to accept that she could not be reached. Patient, persistent kindness later, she is a sweet, loving kitty (with occasional wild moments) who never hides and even has come to accept Buff and Cooper.
The picture (which I'll also put in the album since the forum switches back and forth) is of her on the couch early this morning. She did get a birthday breakfast os people tuna.
