A couple of weeks ago I brought my cat to a clinic to get annual shots , about 10days later he developed a fever so I took him to the vet. The vet prescribed baytril and now my cats pupils are fully dilated. I stopped giving it to him in fear I was poisoning him. Now he has this awful lesion where he got the shot . The vet gave me topical cream but doesn't know what's wrong with his eyes. They are fully dialated. My mom says to wait because it might be a toxicity thing and he might return to normal in a couple of days....the key word is might.... I have spent close to $1000 help! What do I do? Should I wait or does he need a specialist? My poor little guy:(

Baytril has minimal side effects IF used at a low dose of 5mg per/kg of weight, so hopefully this was within the range given your kitty...and perhaps the eye sight problem is unassociated...(?)
everything we do or use has its pros and cons...but yeah if this is the cause and its permanent I too would be angry
best of luck..keep us update okay..♥

hi dear I am so very sorry for kitties problems, I am so glad you stopped the Baytril, this drug should be banned....I have read of others that have had problems with it, one of the many complaints I've read is 'blindness', in HIGH doses.....I sure hope with the short term your kitty was on it and that this will only be temporary, and if the dose wasn't high.

I wish i could send you a website, unfortunately all I know about it is from other owners and postings.....I will search more.
It wouldn't hurt to consult a specialist if you can afford it, they can run a bill up in an awful hurry...
good luck to kitty and please let us know how he is doing....my heart goes out to you..♥
