Thank you both for your positive and constructive comments. ZodiacQueen: She was microchipped in the States, but about an hour after posting I was on the phone with my vet in the states and got the microchip #, logged into HomeAgain and updated my settings. It didn't occur to me to do these things right away; this is Turkey after all, and the chances of the some friendly citizen taking the trouble to pick her up and bring her to a shelter is slim to none, due to all the other stray cats out there. (I had taken her collar off the day before to put some flea medication on too, what luck!)
Thanks again.
Chances of survival? Depends on the cat and the cat's luck. Cats can go back to the house but it all depends. Lets be realistic here, she may or may not come back. I hope she does, and when she does, be ready because she'll go back preggo...that's for sure. My husband had a cat who was taken far from the house by accident. The cat managed to get back to the house but it took him a week or so, and when he did he looked horrible, and a car had hit him. He had to be put to sleep as he was dragging himself. I have a friend whose cat in heat got out and hasn't come back, and it's been close to 8 months. So there is a chance that she'll go back to you, I just dont know how high or how low it is.
Hopefully your kitty will be clever enough to stay out of trouble.
Good Luck, and hope you and your kitty will be together again.
Was she microchipped in Turkey? If she was, then they'd program the new address in the chip so that someone can read the chip's information-owner name and address.
Good luck with your kitty, I hope you will be reunited soon!!
