Me again! Updating on stray kitty!

Okay so I ended up bringing kitty in for a bath because they were stinky. And............... they've been inside ever since. We named her Iona (i-yawn-uh). The poo is normal now that they've eaten cat food (they're a little food aggressive!).

Anyway so last night I go to check on little Iona and make sure she is, in fact, a girl. I made her a pet tag and everything (I hand-stamp metals) only to find out out girl kitty is actually a BOY! It's just so hard to tell when they're this little but there is no doubt now unless girl cats have testicles.

I still haven't taken him to the vet. I need to make sure all the fleas are gone first or they'll charge me for treatment even if I already treated him. I don't see the hip issue anymore either. It may have been from malnutrition (this poor kitty was literally all bones!). He's plumped up a bit just from having him in here for about a week.

And finally we need to rename him. LOL! My poor daughters refuse to believe he is a boy and refuse to help me name him. Our other cat is Beckett, named after my favorite Stargate character. So he is again nameless.

I want to add that he's also a stinker! I swear he's like a dog trapped in a kitty body. He fetches and comes when he's called. He eats EVERYTHING and is ornery. It is so good to see this once malnourished, starved kitty lazying about in a sunny window content with the world.

The main issue was winning over my husband, which was the reason I originally didn't bring the cat inside. I think my husband gave up the moment he saw the kitty inside because he knew I wouldn't be able to give him away to anyone. Awwww, he really loves me! ;-) That or he secretly loves cats!

When I was younger I had a 4 year old sister. We adopted 2 kittens who were brothers and my sister was able to name one of the cats. She would not accept that hers was a boy and named him Cinderella. We kept the name to make her happy and eventually changed it to Cinderfella. He was the funniest cat though. He had a high pitched mew and was very prissy, just like a girl. I guess his name ended up suiting him pretty well!

Your cat is so precious!

Oh my goodness, Cassandrajane, you DO have a lot of animals! Lol. Love the names too!

JoyRenee, I've been watching your threads on the stray kitty and I hope you get to keep him too! I hope he works out for you and your family. Does he get along with the other animals? He might be a little food agressive because he's been a stray for awhile and has been hungry. Hopefully that will settle down soon as he sees he can have plenty of food.
That's cute that he fetches. PK's kitty, Abby, does that too. I love it! :) I hope everything works out with the so far nameless kitty, lol. I do like your name choices! Let us know what your husband says and if you get to keep him! I'll keep watching your threads. :)

The farting might be because he is Nervous! I saw something like that on the TV LOL. Basically needs to be put on a low fibre diet little but often everyday. :)
And my mum says TV will make me go stupid!! LOL.

Are you going to keep him??
I think you should name it again from stargate. Or another favourite film?

My animal names all match...
Snakes : Pika and Boo (pikaboo)
Cats(Splash and Splosh... which will make drip and drop)
Turtles from Nemo.. (My Turtle, crush, squirt, gil, sharkbaite, bloat)
Geckos from Friends(Joey, phoebe, Rachel and Monica, and we adopted George)
Tarantuals: Peter and Parker.... (Peter parker, spiderman)
Hermanns Tortoise.. Herman, I couldnt think of a name.
Axolotl  Splish (Which is why we have splash and splosh)
Toads.. Pebbles and Bam Bam..
Degus..... Magic and Mushroom...
(my answer for everything was Magic, and Mushroom went with it)
Hamsters... Starky and Rhodes (from Iron man LOL)
I have alot of animals... And eventually have plenty more names to come up with lol...

This is wonderful what you are doing for this kitty. :) You should get a reward.

Glad he is doing okay,  and his hip may have been like you said..
So I take it you are keeping him then bles you. And your children will learn, And or the kitty will get stronge as well as he is now being looked after.

I have to tell you a story-we had adopted from a shelter a tiny 5wk old black kitten when we first moved in together (she's now 11) and at the time we had Timmy, and adult male. He's since passed, sadly. Well, Timmy had been stalking a mouse down in the garage for about a week-imagine his disgust when little Spirit (now a few months old) came marching up the stairs with the mouse in her mouth! His face was priceless as if to say "no, no, no, that was mine!!!" as he came up the stairs behind her. I yelled at my boyfriend "it has legs!!" I guess to differentiate between the toy mice or something; then laughed and laughed. Poor Timmy. Get ready for some good times!!

Well his girl name was Iona (with an 'I" not an "L"). LOL! But we can't call him that or he might develop a complex. ;-Þ

That is my oldest, Elaina, in the picture with him! She thinks he is her little doll. He's starting to scratch them because they just don't realize how little he is; they're so used to our big, fat Beckett-boy. I don't blame him and we're going to continue to teach our girls to be gentle. They definitely can't ever be alone with him.

We brainstormed some names and I think the three we've gotten down to are Solomon, Meshach or Jack. We'll probably decide tomorrow which will stick!!! My husband is at a Mercy Me concert and I'm waiting for him to get home so I can talk about names with him.

Beckett doesn't really care for the dog. Sam is such a calm, quiet dog but when she gets in a playful, hyper mood Beckett hides. It's just too much for him to see a larger animal to go bouncing around the room! But he and Mr. Baby Kitty play. They get kind of rough but I don't think they're REALLY fighting if you know what I mean!

The morning after we let the kitten in Beckett caught a mouse and strutted around the house like a puffed up peacock. He had been so mad at me the day before for letting the kitten in but that next morning when I found his present he was a lot happier with me. I think he was trying to "prove himself" or apologize or something. Anyway we praised him and threw the dead thing outside, ha ha! He's a great mouser! That is the fourth mouse he's caught in 2 years. I bought him some special dinners these past couple weeks for all the trouble I've brought into his world.

Beckett is just a really amazing cat. He loves to lay in the middle of the playroom floor while my girls play around him. I knew he was good with kids so I expected he would get over having new furry friends and he has! He's doing great!
