Kitten with a fracture in the knee - must have surgery ?

Hi
I has a 4-month kitten and after jumping from a high shelf in the house he was injured as was diagnosed by the Vet having a rare fracture in the Knee.

The Vet said the kitten must have a surgery (that will insert a small screw into the knee) since that otherwise this fracture will not heal.

Do you know a kitten that had the same fracture and that healed without a surgery ? (this whole procedure will be a shock to my kitten and if possible i would like not to put him through it)

Thanks !

Hello and welcome...

Please follow your Vets advice. Your kitten is young and healthy; he will be fine.  Keep in mind, your kitten is in a lot of pain, and if this fracture is left to heal on its own, it will likely heal poorly with a great chance of arthritis setting in leaving your kitten in pain for life.  Make an appt for surgery asap.
