hi, I have a recipe that may work tho I've never personally tried it, but its safe and cheap so worth a try...
-fill a shallow plate such as a pie plate with water. add one to 3 drops of any liquid dishwashing soap or hand soap, mix well.
-place the plate on the floor with a small lamp shining onto the water. fleas will be drawn to the heat from the bulb. can place several plates around the house focusing on areas with more fleas, such as close to animals bedding and sofa's.
-leave all the lamps on at night over the plates. and the other household lights off...fleas will jump into the water and drown....dump and repeat until you see no more dead fleas in the water...make take a few days.
-most cats aren't drawn to this water, they don't like the smell of the soap(dogs? not sure?)
if needed cover the plates with strainers that has large holes.
let us know if this works...ok

I was hoping to get an anwer to this also. My dog had a liver shunt and I have to be very careful what I allow her body to absorb. I was hoping the listerine story was true but wanted to see if it worked for anyone else. I hope people keep on posting!!
Hi, I have no clue whether this works or not. Please be very careful of what you use as cleaning products, etc. because animals lick themselves and can possibly wind up ingesting the stuff.......especially spraying stuff on carpets, floors, or counter tops where a cat will walk. They wind up licking the stuff off of their paws.
Your best bet is to use Advantage or Revolution as a spot treatment for your kitty. Hopefully someone will come along with some suggestions on a possible natural flea killer that won't be potentially harmful to your cat.
