Pet bitten by snake
Has anyone out there ever had their pet bitten by a snake? Today my cat got bitten by a copperhead, so the vet thinks; her paw / leg is terribly swollen. Itgot worse as we looked at it over a couple of hours. At first we just noticed she was limping when she came in from outside. I have never heard of this happening to anyone I know. She is at the vet emergency clinic overnight getting ivs, bloodwork, pain meds, etc. What the heck? From now on that kitty is an indoor cat.
awww hope the kitty is okay, I get snakes in my garden but they are harmless, my cat is indoors more than she used to be, as the dogs around with all their barking freak her out .
Did a little research, seems an adult cat is likely to survive the Copperhead venom, but that secondary infection is the major concern.
Getting kitty to the vet like you did is the best thing you could have done.
