VERY SAD DAY!!!!

Hissie is doing fine. So, this is not about my old girl and Paradise is just fine as well. Maybe I should go to the dog forum, but I feel the most comfortable in my cat forum. My 6 yr. old grandson's 4 yr. old dog Midnight got ran over last night. They found him along side the road and of course have buried him. My grandson does not yet know that his doggie is dead. He is due to be home from school in about a half hour. My grandson and Midnight were the very best of friends. My daughter called me a little while ago and gave me the news. I cried and cried for over an hour, to hear that Midnight had been killed. He was just a mixed mutt, but he was so sweet and lovable. Loved everyone. I had known this dog for 4 yrs. I loved Midnight as well very much. I spent many hours playing with him and loving on him, when I would visit at my daughter's and son-in-law's home. So, I was very attached to this sweet dog. I just hate when anything happens to any animal. I am some upset with my daughter and my son-in-law though. This is about the 5th animal they have lost to being run over. They are good pet owners as far as taking them to the vet, feeding them well, etc. But, they have one huge flaw when it comes to pets. They live about 9 miles out in the country from town. They did have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Well, now they no longer have Midnight. These animals are inside/outside pets. I though feel as a pet owner, that you should keep your pets safe and protect them, too. I told my daughter over and over, not to let these animals out to roam. They have lost 4 pets this way. Now, the number is 5, since Midnight is no longer with us. I have had Paradise for 5 mths. now. She was my daughter's cat. To be honest, they would let Paradise out to roam. And Paradise ended up getting half her sweet little face blown off by gunshot. So, actually the number of lost pets for my daughter is 6. When I rescued Hissie, I brought her into the house. And in the 3 yrs. I have had Hissie, she has never been back outside. The same with Paradise. I keep both my girls inside at all times. Nothing wrong in letting an animal outside for a bit, if a pet owner is there to watch them and then take them back inside. But, to put one out and let it roam, I simply do not agree with. My daughter and her husband think just because they are out in the country, they can let these little animals roam. Well, roaming has caused 5 to get ran over and one to get shot and lose an eye and is half deaf. I am pretty upset with my daughter and her husband over this. And I have told them so today. I have told them so in the past. A precious dog was lost last night, due to ignorance and neglect in my opinion. I don't care if it is my daughter and her husband. Just here to vent my friends. Now, I am only too concerned and heartbroken for my little grandson. My grandson is so tenderhearted and such a sweet little boy. Thank you my friends as always for listening to me.

Oh Lynn, this is just heartbreaking.  I'm so sorry!

Sadly, it sounds like this is not the first time your little grandson has had to deal with the death of a pet.

My heart goes out to both of you and I will be keeping you and your grandson in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh how awful! I'm so sorry your grandson's dog got run over. What a tragedy. I really hope they will be more careful next time with their pets. We can always hope.
Maybe you can have a special day with just you and your grandson and do something special with him. Talking helps, I think. God bless you and your little grandson.

This is so sad, that Midnight got ran over. I’m so sorry, because now your little boy will suffer the loss of his friend. Kids get extremely affected by the loss of a pet. When my Belgian Shepherd Malinois, Shilka, got poisoned, I did not speak to anyone for days, and I barely ate. That dog was my life. I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life, so I understand your passion for animals very well. Dogs have a very special way of letting you know how much you mean to them. Unconditional love and friendship is what we love about those creatures.  It is definitely never a nice thing to experience…………the loss of your pet. It’s heartbreaking. I’m sorry this happened.

R.I.P Midnight.
