The itchy skin is a big cause, but also, some cats have compulsive disorder. If you see the cat making bare spots or even biting excessively in one spot when they've been stressed out by something, you might ask your vet about that.
My cat has itchy skin & I've been giving her a pinch of flaxseed meal in her food each day, as the omega fatty acids found in flax oil i supposed to help w/inflammation. I think maybe it also helped when I vacuumed the sheep wool rug she was sleeping on in the winter & cleaned up a lot of the dust in the area where she sleeps.
great, thanks for the link...
hi and welcome, hair loss d/t licking is usually an allergy to something environmental, food or to fleas this causes kitty to itch and to lick...but hair loss can be d/t many other problems. I will send you a link to read thru.
I would suggest for starters to change kitty's litter to something with NO scent. to change his food preferably to a canned diet without grains. and to not use any cleaners in your home...such a bleach,mr clean etc. not even candles are they too have a strong scent...cats are much more hypersensitive to scents than even we humans are.
give those a try and see if that helps, post any time if we can help with more information...good luck.
