best thing for fleas

I have 8 feral cats I am feeding. I wish to know what is the best flea medicine around? I will be able to dot them with either frontline or advantix-ii or advantage whatever it is called! It is the best for me to apply the stuff their necks as they are big babies and I can get close to them to squirt something on them...how about revolution? as this seems to kill everything including worms etc...but seems to be only one per animal. and it is also per perscription only.
what should i do? I am sure the cats will be full of fleas as we had a very few days where it got below freezing so they will be terrible..

great answer! thanks for this. looks like frontline is out for sure.in brasil we have a white powerder made by bayer and it is called bolfo and it is wonderful you can put it all over them and they have no reactions to them but at the time they do not sell bolfo in the u.s. too bad. I asked my friend to send me a packet but she didnt think that it would go through as they dont sell it here. they do sell a flea collar with with that drug but not the powder. they would probably thing she was sending me cocaine or something! hahaha thanks for your answer it is good...

i am back in the U.S now have returned because I will go back to school but will be off again in like 5 years.. love brasil....i dont have the money to go for revolution at this time. but what I need to know if frontline or advantage is a better product. it is 8 cats and it will be very expensive to treat them all but I think that I can treat like 2 cats per box. I will also check out how many cts i can treat with one box. and I will also check out Opus88 as she always has good solutions.....thanks for the answer.

her name is Lily. and she is 4 years old. she is actualy adopted out now because I came back to live in the states. not forever but for like 5 years so she is adopted out to my neighbor who thinks she is the cats meow! hahah
so happy I found someone who loved her to death....

awww Nance I also have a calico called 'Tweety' I too have problems with flea med the front line did not suit Tweety  I am going to take a look at the link opus has put up from Furballs

Hey Nance, I think your best bet would be either Frontline or Revolution.  You can get Frontline at Petco or Petsmart, but I'm not sure if Revolution is sold there...I don't believe so, however, I know for sure, you can get it at 1800Petmeds with free shipping.  And you're right, one vial per cat.
