cat chewing important stuff; how to stop her?

My dad's widow's cat has a bad habit of chewing though cords and stuff, now including her nebulizer hose (lady needs for breathing treatments)

I told her i'd ask here for suggestions on how to change this behavior, since we have some smart and experienced people here.

I'm writing this on my new android phone I got for Christmas, so I'll keep this brief. I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Hope the situation is now under control  I have had kits who simply could not resist chewing on cords....it was really a challenge to get them to stop.  I tried the Bitter Apple Jade mentioned...with mixed results....you still have to watch them....and can't 24/7.

Tin foil is brilliant ...for some strange reason, altho' kits love to play with crumpled, crinkly things...they all hate tin foil.  My sis is using it to discourage her cat from chewing on fake xmas tree branches.....she put a ring of tin foil around the tree and it is almost good enough to keep him away.  Covering a hose should do the trick!!

Good luck.

oh there were some excellent suggestions on that site Jade gave. I also thought of something while reading about metal tube covers....why not just cover in tin foil....no cat would ever chew tin foil, this should work..good luck

Thanks; I'll pass the info along.  The lady did say they sent an extra hose with the nebulizer; maybe we can save the new hose!

I'm not sure how to change the behavior but I remembered another discussion on this very subject which I'll give you the link for.  It's not long.  I see Bitter Apple recommended, but I would think something as important as a nebulizer hose would need to be covered and this link provides some suggestions.  Yes, good luck, hon!

gee that could be hazardous to the lady couldn't it...(sorry didn't mean to be a smart a$$)
first of all I would certainly find something else for the kitty to chew on such as an old cord or rubber tubing.....perhaps smearing it with a little bit of something that doesn't taste too great but wouldn't be toxic, vaseline maybe? vitamin E?
thats a hard one, I hope others will come up with more suggestions FM...............good luck wtih that one...♥
