Hahahaha...I got such a laugh out of your post. "Devil Face" hahaha...kitty says NO!
spirit - when I trim their nails, I wrap my cat in a towel with only one paw showing at a time. I also have the pedicure which I also use - mostly on the back ones.
I have 4 cats now and two of them seems to have very fast growing claws or the other two do a better job in keeping them trim. One of the two is tearing up my furniture. I'm trimming them but the emery board scratcher sounded like it may be worth a try.
A few rare occasions I've tried to use an emery board to smooth out my cat's nails after trimming. Needless to say, he didn't like it, so I would imagine that he wouldn't like a whole scratching board made of that stuff either. He does like the cardboard stuff.
I haven't attempted to trim my cats nails, at least 2 would absolutely not be receptive to that idea! One goes into spaz mode if he doesn't feel like being picked up, my fiance calls it "devil face" all 4 feet straight out with every claw out, fangs bared, teeth and ears back, crazy hissing and yowling like you're going to throw him in the oven or something. I don't know why he does this! And other times he purrs. I always put him right down, though, devilface is no fun.
I have the cardboard scratchers but I still have to trim their nails. If this new product is safe I want to try it. But not without some better reviews.
I have something similar but it's made of cardboard that seems to work just fine and my cats use it to nap on, as well. You sprinkle some catnip on it and they seem to
firgure out right away. The only thing is the 'nip sifts down under it and needs to be vacuumed up periodically. I have 3 cats and it's lasted several months so far. Since it's made of cardboard there's no fear of the whole nail coming out. When they shed it does look creepy though! My fiance thought that was what happened and I explained their nails are flat vertically as opposed to ours so that's what it looks like when you find that on the floor or where ever. You can buy the cardboard things most anywhere
you buy pet supplies.
If you wouldn't mind, keeping me updated about Swampy's experience?
Well, cats claws shed off in layers and so its not bad to find what appear to be whole claws -- it is not painful for the cat nor is it like you breaking a nail.
Swampy recently got an emery cat scratcher, but his cat hasn't yet figured out what the heck it is for. She will eventually.
