Hi All, in order to post a Prayer Thread for u, please post ur date here on this thread so we know u would like one.

Know it does not need to be surgery for Chiari, it can be nething.....and know we will keep u in our thoughts and prayers.

We also have tips for the hospital stay in the health pages....so do look there for helpful info.

  I do not think we can get comfortable with surgery I had a few b4 mine and with each I was very nervous as well....

I am scheduled for decompression on November 10th. I am counting the days because I am so miserable,it has been almost 6 years since the accident that caused this,and has taken until July for it to be figured out that it was Chiari. You would think through that with 4 back surgeries under my belt I would be a little calmer...I'm a nervous wreck! Good luck to those of you with upcoming surgeries,will be thinking of you and saying a prayer for you.

Hey all! My surgery date has been moved up to September 30th at 1:00pm. Next week! I'm definitely ready for some REAL relief this time around. I will appreciate as many prayers as I can get.

  Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

  That is a pretty quick turnaround from DX to surgery.....
  I know it can be frustrating to know if you made the right choice and if you really need surgery since the symptoms can cycle....

Keep in mind the BI will put pressure right on the brain stem...and that is something I am sure your Dr will also correct in addition to the decompressiom....do you know if you will have a dura plasty? If so, what type of patch will be used?
