Hi all ne new recipes for this week?
I heard this trick on Dr Oz show and it work!!!
Take a boxe of cake and had 1 1/2 cup of sparkling water instead of the oil water and eggs. You cook it like instructed on the box. It makes an awsome cake! with half the fat and no eggs.
Cool !! I also add unsweetened apple sauce or pure packed pumpkin does the same thing,....and it gets really moist....never heard the sparkling water one tho....
Even though I'm Italian, I recently discovered pasta e fagioli (macaroni & beans)-- easiest recipe for a lazy cook such as myself!
buy vege broth, canned beans (I like white), canned tomatoes, & small pasta (I used alphabets, for fun).
I cooked beans in vege. broth, & cooked pasta separately in it too, threw it together w/tomatoes.
Season as you like; add meat or leftover veges. if you want. It literally takes 10 min.
Wow...my DD and DH <3 pasta e fagioli......and I made it yrs ago....but it tool me much longer, I will try ur abbreviated recipe and see how they like it
: D
Ne recipes for this week?
Hi all ne recipes this week?
Is neone reading this thread?...do u all want to participate?
Hi all this can be a lot of fun....neone have a recipe to share?
Ok well I know it is not Thursday but I tried a new recipe and both my DH and I loved it...so here it is :
Apple Turnovers-
1 cup of flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold butter divided
1/4 cup of ice water
In a small bowl combine flour, salt and cut in 1/4 cup of butter.blend until crumbly gradually add water tossing with a fork until a ball forms.
On a lightly floured board, roll dough to a 10" x 12" rectangle,
Cut the remaining butter into thin slices, on the short side of the rectangle arrange the butter slices on 2/3 of the dough keeping in an inch from edges. fold the remaining 1/3 of dough with none of the butter over the mid section (1/3) of the dough with butter, then fold over remaining dough with the butter so it is covered with the other 2/3s.
Now fold this in half, and roll into a 12x6" rectangle and repeat the folding and rolling process one more time.
lightly dust with flour and fold and wrap in saran wrap and place in fridge for an hour,.
Filling
1/3 cup sugar ( I added some light brown sugar too approx 2 tbsp)
2 tsp cornstarch
1/8 tsp cinnamon
2 med apples
1 tsp lemon juice* ( or water)
In a saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon , lemon juice or water in the saucepan add apples and toss to coat, bring to a boil stirring constantly, turn down to a simmer for 10 to 12 mins or until apples are tender.
1 egg beaten with 1 1/2 tsp water in a separate bowl
Take a jelly roll pan and cover in foil, then unfold the dough, cut into 4 equal sections, brush with egg wash, add apples and fold over and close with a fork, cut 2 slits in the top and brush again with egg wash.
Bake @ 450 for 17 to 20 mins
Makes 4 turnovers.
Serve with ice cream or
1/4 cup of confectioners sugar
1 tsp water
Drizzle over turnover when slightly cooled.
Enjoy : P
Hi all ne one have a recipe to add...or tried one that is on here?
My family loves stuffed French toast, but it's just too much for me now. So, I modified it to fit my new goal of reducing stress :)
I don't really use measurements, but I can put the ingredients...
Bread (I use whatever we happen to have...)
Egg whites
Milk
Vanilla
Cinnamon
Fat-free cream cheese - room temp
Agave syrup (or sugar)
2 bananas
Strawberries
Cooking spray or olive oil
Skillet or griddle
Syrup (I use sugar free)
I make the filling first:
Blend Cream cheese, agave syrup, vanilla. Smash one banana and mix it in. Smetimes I also add strawberry jam. Slice other banana and strawberries. Set these aside.
French toast next:
mix egg whites, vanilla, and cinnamon together. Dip bread in mixture, then cook on skillet or griddle until golden brown on both sides.
Finally, put them together. Put one slice French toast on plate. Then put as much or little cream cheese mix on. Put bananas and/or strawberries on. Cover with another slice of toast. Then your choice of syrup.
You can use any type of fruit you want. Or no fruit! I've been known to just use preserves or jam, even lol
Yummy :)
Oops! The milk goes with the egg white mixture.... Not too much, though.
French toast is one of my Favs...and this looks so yummy I have to try it....I do not have ne fruit right now....so when I do I will let u know : P
Hi all I made Chicken turnovers using the same dough as for the apple turnovers.....I cooked 2 chicken breasts in some broth along with onions, celery and carrots....when done I cut the chicken up in to edible pieces,,,,
I spooned some cream of chicken soup on top of the chicken inside the turnover....(right from the can, not diluted.)....covered the chicken and sealed the pastry and baked using the same oven temp and timing as the apples ....
