4 year old w/ chiari

Hello, I have chiari and my dd was diagnosed with chiari yesterday. I have a few questions. My dd measures 7mm but just on the left side. Does that mean the other side will eventually fall? Is 7mm in a child worse than 7 mm in an adult? (because she's much smaller than an adult)
Her NL said that he didn't think her occipital HA's are from her chiari. I don't agree. Although I will say hers don't hurt in the same places as mine did.
She has respiratory "issues". She has tracheomalacia. (trachea collapses). Could this be related?
Selma?   ;)

Thank you Selma. They are scheduling her an apt with Texas Children's. I'll ask about EDS.

Hi....I do not think the size of herniation is an issue, as I have said many times it is the width and if it is causing a CSF obstruction...most of us have 2 diff sizes of herniation and usually r only told the longest one....I had a 4mm and a 6mm but I had an obstruction...that is the issue and how it is affecting the patient.

Sounds like u may not have a chiari specialist....and as for the tracheomalacia, this could be EDS related as some types of EDS can cause collapse of veins and other issues that I would deff look into this as it is related to chiari.

I hope that answered ur questions.
