I remember starting with neurologists, and quickly learning that they cannot really do much except prescribe medications for symptoms and monitor you. There are two neurosurgeons that are known to specialize in Chiari on the list of doctors ... in Dallas with offices elsewhere.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
When the NS is not a true Chiari specialist, we will have these appointments that are nothing but disappointments,,.....but, I feel we learn along the way and we know what we want from our Dr and what we do not, which is a good thing.
I hope this next Dr is more informed and helpful.
That appointment was a total bust! She said she could treat the headache and that was it! Seeing a neurosurgeon in abilene (70) miles from home on Tuesday!
We do have a list of questions in the Health Pages for a general visit to a NS, so I am sure they will be a good tell for a Chiari informed Dr.

Take a look at the list of questions for a NS and see if u have ne others once u read thru them.
Thank you! Are there specific questions you suggest?
Have u looked at the list of Drs thread? If the name is not on, then we do not have a member that was to this Dr and felt the name should be included on the list.....or none that have been to him at all.....u may be the one to find another Dr that understands Chiari to add to the list....all u can do is research the Dr, educate urself and compare what he tells u to what another NS u know , knows Chiari tells u...and go with ur gut and who u r comfortable with.
