Having issues

It has been 6 years this July since my surgery and I am now having alot of issues. I have not told my husband everything or he would flip but now I am to the worried stage. I need to find a doctor here in the St. Louis area that can help me.

The lost words we all refer to as brain fog...we all know what you are going thru and I can say it does get better with time....it is not a fix or cure to have surgery and it is not for everyone with Chiari...and it is very important to know ALL related conditions you may have as they can affect recovery so make sure to have the testing b4 you consider surgery.

Hang in there.

They only told me I had this issue. I have not had a MRI for 8 years. Im having trouble with speech, swallowing, my tounge feels really thick and pain in my head. I have dealt with all this before. The new issues are itchy feet and tingling in my feet and really bad dizzy spells. I know what I want to say in my head but can not make it come out of my mouth normally. My speech has become more and more slurred and trying to work and this happens is not good.

Hi jksranch5 and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Did you have ALL related conditions ruled out b4 surgery?

Did you have a post op MRI done?

May we ask what are the issues you are having now....and are they new or the same you had pre op?

Hi jksranch. I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. I'm almost 8 months post op and have been struggling for a while with things. I'm bout 40 minutes south of St. Louis and I can tell you I haven't found anyone there that is knowledgable in chiari. Not even the big teaching hospitals. I had to travel to find a chiari specialist so my guess would be that you will also. It's really sad that we have no one around to understand and guide us. I wish you much luck!
