Body temperature

Yesterday i was running 100 degrees at Drs office and today I an freezing and 95.5.  I have chiari, EDS, empty sella (squished pituitary), and psuedotumor.  Does any of this cause unstable body temperature?  Is it anything to worry about?  I am freezing!

TO ALL...make sure u are checked for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.....

What I find  frustrating is to sit and be ice cold and freezing, but also sweating.....yuck.....everything is off kilter, not working right.....the nerves do tend to be over stimulated.....

But u should get the thyroid tested, and not just the TSH as u can get a "normal" test result.....u need the free T3 and free T4 and TPO antibodies and the TSH...even a ultra sound of the thyroid is helpful to see if there are ne nodules...if found u need this checked every 6 months......

Oh dear!!!!  I thought I was crazy!!!!  Since surgery I have had problems regulating my body temp......  I will just randomly get super HOT and start sweating and not all the time but get extremely cold after wards.  and this happens a couple of times a day..  I had the WORST episode ever last sat..  I was on fire and sweating so much my hair was wet in the back from my neck and my clothes were damp, AND I was freezing all at the same time..  It was miserable and I was so uncomfortable I was begging for it to stop!  So I ended up taking so ativan and percs to settle down and after about 2hrs of this I fell asleep for about 30mins and when I woke up the burning up had subsided and I was just cold,,,,

I sure hope this Post Op symptom is NOT here to stay.......  AND I hope you find relief for yours!  I'm sorry I don't have any advice, I just wanted u to know, your not the only one!  I seriously thought until I read ur post that I was going crazy!  LOL

Lol so funny my husband has his sheet and I have my down comforter lol.  I asked my pcp about the additional tests and she said at this point she feels it would be duplicating what the endo will do so I will know more next week:)

I got ur solution GIRLS !!!....My DH is always warm and I am an ice pop, so since he will not let me use the  flannel sheets, I made a taco out of the flat sheet for my side of the bed....after u put the fitted sheet on, put the flannel flat sheet down and fold to ur side of the bed, then finish the making of the bed on top of this...when ui go to bed u get inside the flannel taco and it helps, I also keep small throws next to my side of the bed to trow on top of me if and when this is not enuff!!

So make a taco!!!

  lol.....

I keep a heating pad near my chair in the living room and I have a king size electric blanket so I can adjust my side on my bed :)  I am always freezing.  But then.. there are those weird fevers from nowhere!  My daughter also had a body temp control issue, I always wonder if she has chiari too!  After my third surgery I had a fever for MANY weeks, it was so crazy, just came and went all day long for probably six weeks or more.  Luckily it slowed down!  My poor husband only suffers when we travel and I have no electric blanket... then I have to be close to him or I can't sleep! It  does not matter how high the blankets are piled, my body just does not heat itself up unless I take a hot bath or take a really long walk :)

My hubby and I have this constant war in bed. Want to cuddle, I'm freezing and he is burning up. He wants the blankets of and the windows and fans on. Its a give and take. I keep trying to talk him into flannel sheets. So far, I've only gotten flannel pjs as a compromise :)

Thank you so much for giving me the details.  I made an appointment with my PCP Wednesday to discuss Dr Oro findings and I will take this with me.  She had done the typical test and found that I was normal and I was not aware there were more tests to do.

Hi...I had this b4 and post op...and it could be thyroid related too...so do talk to ur Dr and get that checked, TSH, free T3, free T4, TPO antibodies....they should be checking for an auto immune thyroid issue not a typical thyroid issue where they only look at the TSH...if that is all they do, u will have "normal" results with a thyroid issue and not understand what is going on....

But, it can also be chiari, we have to know yes not everything is chiari, but it is affecting out brain stem and that is the control center for everything in our body including how we regulate heat and cold temps.

I also have had surgery and my body went through this.  I don't think you have had surgery though have you rylanesmom?  For me the doctor said my body was in shock due to 4 surgeries within 4 month's, but it did gradually go away.  Our bodies with having Chairi go through a lot more than what we can inmagine.  Hope this help's.  Get a electric blanket and put it on the back of your chair.  MMM!!!!  nice and warm.  Can you tell I live in MI LOL.  it does help.  Try it.
Or I highly recommend the heated mattress pad's.  I wouldn't live without one of those on these cold day's.  Much better than a heating blanket.  Hope this helps
