I had neck and upper back massages as part of physical therapy after surgery. It was wonderful! Since it was done by a physical therapist who is familiar with my condition it was okay in my book. I naturally stay very tense in my neck, shoulders and back, and those 2 massages that I got a week for about 8 weeks were amazing lol. Now of course I'm back to being tense, but I can't go running off to PT every week =P

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is ok, to have a massage as long as it is not deep tissue or manipulation of the neck/spine.

If the masseuse is well aware of ur condition they may choose to avoid it completely....so u do need to tell them and explain what the issue is....
